Competition

Amateur photographers are being offered the chance of a lifetime - the opportunity to get one of their pictures on postcards to be delivered across the globe.

To celebrate the completion of Temenos – the sculpture at Middlehaven by world renowned artist Anish Kapoor and leading structural engineer Cecil Balmond – Tees Valley Unlimited will be giving away postcards with every copy of the Evening Gazette and its sister paper The Journal on June 10.

TVU wants people from all over the North East to spread the world about Middlesbrough by sending postcards to their friends and relatives around the UK and overseas.

Each paper will contain two postcards – one shot by a professional photographer and the other the best submitted as part of a competition run in conjunction with the Evening Gazette as part of the ‘Talk Up the Tees Valley’ campaign.

Congratulations to Peter Brown for winning with his excellent and original take on Temenos. Lauren Parnell's striking image was a close second, and Steve Gray's beautiful sunset came third.

Very well done to the other seven shortlisted entrants, whose images were proudly displayed in The Evening Gazette, and to everyone else who entered - your images have inspired and delighted us all! You can view all the submissions at the Flickr group.
